Base Layers
One of the most uncomfortable aspects of cycling used to be dealing with perspiration. Riding a bike requires a lot of effort and as such, that means that the more work a cyclist puts in on their bike, the more they will perspire.
In traditional cotton clothing, this could lead to problems. Sweat would soak the clothing and if the wind picked up, or temperature dropped markedly, the cooling wind chilled the cyclist to the bone rapidly. However, innovative design has come up with the perfect solution and that is by the application of base layers next to the skin.
A base layer is an item of clothing, either top or shorts, that is worn next to the skin underneath traditional cycle gear. The special material used in the manufacture of these base layers helps draw moisture away from the skin through a process known as wicking. The moisture is then filtered through the clothing into the atmosphere, ensuring that the rider and their clothes remain relatively free of perspiration.
Foxster offers a wide range of cycling base layers, available in a variety of colours, styles and sizes for both men and women. In warmer weather, many can be worn as an alternative to a t-shirt or cycling vest, whereas in colder weather, they provide a strong first defence against colder temperatures.
